District's Chief Procurement Officer Recognized by National Association

Mayor Anthony A. Williams announced that the National Contract Management
Association has recognized the Government of the District of Columbia
Chief Procurement Officer, Jacques "Jack" Abadie, III, whom he appointed
in 2001, as an NCMA Fellow. The National Contract Management
Association, with a membership of 20,000, initiated the Fellows Program
in 1967, and has made only 700 awards.
NCMA was formed in 1959 to foster professional growth and educational
advancement and is the preeminent source of professional development
for the practice of contract management.
NCMA Fellows have demonstrated accomplishments in academic and
professional training, significant work experience in the field,
management experience, NCMA volunteer service, authorship, public speaking,
teaching, and awards.
Present when the Mayor made the announcement, Neal Couture, the Executive
Director of the National Contract Management Association, said "Mayor
Williams you have a top notch professional leading your procurement office".
Jack Abadie, III, as the Chief Procurement Officer for the Government of
the District of Columbia, is responsible for procuring $1.8 billion in
goods and services for the 58 separate agencies that report to the Mayor.
